Summer Travels

Our photos are up! This summer we combined vacation and physics and spent four weeks in Utah and Colorado. The first week in Utah was purely for hiking and backpacking. We hit a heat wave, and 104 degree weather forced us to change our plans and hike close to water at all times... well, except for the stretch where the Escalante River went dry, that is. We made up for that by spending an entire day in the water-filled canyon of Death Hollow.

The next two weeks, Thomas attended the Aspen Center for Physics, and we used to opportunity for day hikes and rock climbing.
Finally, one week in beautiful Boulder, CO, where Thomas taught at the Boulder School for Condensed Matter and Materials Physics. The Flatirons are fabulous! Why oh why can't we have rocks like this in Rolla...

Look at our photo album for more pictures.
